Pulsed iontophoresis provides certain advantages over direct current iontophoresis:

• Excellent adherence to treatment;
• Pulsed current prevents the appearance of an electrical shock in the event of a circuit break . Therefore, warning patients about this possible side effect is no longer necessary;
• The patient therefore carries out his iontophoresis sessions in a relaxed and serene manner;
• The fear of possible small shocks being eliminated, adherence to treatment will only be better;
• Even better tolerance;
• Even rarer side effects.

Some patients have difficulty with direct current; it is not the same with this new current which benefits from excellent tolerance, including among children.

Pulsed current also makes it easier to treat the armpits .

The emission of current in the form of pulses causes a better skin response. Since pulsed current does not cause strong membrane polarization, undesirable effects in the form of electrolytic burns are extremely rare.

Following the studies we have carried out on this form of current, we have selected a medium frequency current for its excellent tolerance/efficiency ratio. This current is rectangular, monopolar, the pulse duration is 60 µs.

This comfort presents, it must be admitted, a disadvantage, pulsed iontophoresis is in fact not always as effective as direct current iontophoresis.

So in the case where the hyperhidrosis is really severe, the current of choice will always be direct current for the hands and feet.

Indications: Palliative treatment of excessive sweating of the hands, feet, armpits (armpit electrodes optional).

Contraindications: Cardiac pacemaker wearers, pregnant women, wearers of osteosynthesis equipment.
